Jack Kelly is a writer, photographer, coffee farmer, community organizer and cultural and environmental advocate. He wrote nearly 100 feature articles for the Big Island’s Hawaii Island Journal newspaper and also published a children’s book, Keoni’s Dream, before environmental and cultural threats to the South Kona community led him to a new career as an advocate. Jack has served the Kona community as a longtime president of Keoua Honaunau Canoe Club, a community athletic, advocacy and education group; president of the Kona Coffee Council, a trade group; Hawaii state chairman of the Sierra Club; Hawaii consultant for the Alaska Wilderness League, and lead plaintiff in the landmark Hokulia civil lawsuit, which is the subject of this book. Jack received his Master’s degree in Communication with a specialty in Literary Non-Fiction from the University of Oregon in 2010. Kealohapauole, A Love That. Never Ends, is his first work of nonfiction.
